British Columbia’s new Building and Strata Statutes Amendment Act came into effect in November. The implications are that it will provide greater flexibility for strata owners, with rental and age restrictions no longer enforceable.

The negative implications are that you may have to review strata bylaws and Property Disclosure Statements more closely and advise your clients to seek legal advice if they contain restrictions that are no longer compliant with the Strata Property Act.
